Courtney Tripp – A Results-Driven Community Leader

Born and raised in the Midwest, Courtney fell in love with this community as her “Goldilocks home” — not too big, yet not too small — with access to professional opportunities, thriving arts and culture, beautiful parks and trails, and wide open spaces. She is proud to call De Soto home, and she’s ready to be a champion for the people here.

The largest economic development project in the history of Kansas has shined a spotlight on our community. Growth is coming to De Soto, and with it comes challenges and opportunities. We all love the small-town feel of our community—neighbors who share baked goods or water our gardens when we are out of town, the movies in the park, and the friendly chatter at Cause Coffee. Courtney will be a voice for the people, ensuring we protect our green spaces and gathering areas, build infrastructure to support the growth, and safeguard affordability for families and working Kansans.

An alumna of public schools and state universities, she’s built a successful career on the foundation of a strong public education. She understands that our incredible schools have long attracted families to De Soto and will maintain strong working relationships with the school leadership. 

Courtney is a results-driven leader with 18 years of experience igniting the growth of companies, nonprofits and higher education through marketing and communications. Her determination and can-do spirit give her the confidence to take on any challenge, from training horses and running her own business, to designing and building her own house. She’ll serve the people of De Soto with the same drive and energy.  

Giving back is important to Courtney. She volunteers at the De Soto Food Pantry and serves on the board of directors for the Sunflower House, Johnson County’s children’s advocacy center. She has also volunteered at Wayside Waifs, a no kill animal shelter, and served on a Habitat for Humanity chapter board.

On the weekends, Courtney can be found training her horse named Brazil, gardening, or enjoying the outdoors. She and her husband, Asa Bailey, love kayaking, biking, hiking and camping as well as listening to their favorite bands on vinyl.

A few facts about Courtney:

• As a marketing professional, Courtney’s perspective comes from working for companies across industries — engineering, manufacturing, healthcare, professional training, and education.
• Courtney leads strategy and sustainability for the industrial team at Grundfos, a company dedicated to solving the world’s water crisis.
• Courtney isn’t afraid of hard work. She has hung drywall, installed plumbing and electrical, and designed and built entire homes.
• Her first job as a teenager was working on a pony ride and petting zoo farm, and she still knows how to throw a bale of hay.
